a. Renewing and Empowering Programs
These are programs that Haplos can do within its organizational capability. The approach is holistic in nature. The programs aim to develop the overall wellness of the person namely his body, mind and spirit.
1. Physical Programs
These programs are aimed at developing a strong and healthy body for the PWH. In addition to preferred physical activities, like swimming, walking, exercises for body strengthening, Haplos aims to develop and implement programs for alternative physical activities that PWH can engage in with optimal enjoyment and benefits but with minimal risk of injury and bleeding. 2. Education Programs
These programs are aimed not only at increasing knowledge and updating members and their families on recent developments about hemophilia care and management. It is also Haplos goal to help foster other areas of mental development and a love of learning that will grant the PWH a self-motivated continuing lifelong education. It is hoped that the PWH may be able to pursue basic and even advance studies without interruptions or delays due to physical or financial inability.
3. Psychosocial, emotional and spiritual health programs.
These programs are aimed at providing members an avenue for self-reflection, fostering emotional health, and developing strong personal values. This will be done to encourage the members to become more motivated, stable and positive individuals, who contribute to society healthy relationships with others and their community. Examples of these programs are; psycho-social interactive activities and interventions; programs and activities that encourage the use of the creative and natural talents of PWH, physical and mental exercises, meditation techniques that help in stress management, etc.
4. Livelihood Programs for members.
These programs are aimed at providing member feasible, self-sustaining and income-generating opportunities. Members will be trained and educated on practical means to generate income to support the cost of hemophilia care.
5. Responsible Citizenship Programs (Developing Socially Responsible Members)
The ultimate goal of Haplos is to enable its members to become meaningful contributors to society. This program aims for the transformation of Haplos as an organization and that of its members as individuals. Programs and activities that encourage and enhance positive and service attitude shall be developed and undertaken by Haplos.
b. Hemophilia Care and Treatment - (Medical Support Programs ).
These are programs that address the medical needs of hemophilia which can only be provided outside the capabilities of HAPLOS. These programs are conducted in conjunction with our advocacy programs.
Ultimately, adequate supply of factor concentrates and reliable hemophilia treatment can only be obtained through full government support. Government must establish a well formulated health care system that includes hemophilia and other related bleeding disorders. The different programs under this category are grouped as follows:
It is imperative to get full government support. It is to this end that Haplos needs to undertake these programs in partnership with and support of the Philippine Hemophilia Foundation ( PHF), the Philippine society for Hematology and Blood Transfusion (PSHBT) and multi-discipline groups on hemophilia care, such as dentists, nurses, medical technologists, pediatricians, psychologists, family physicians, etc.
We shall seek the support and advice of the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) and other National Member Organizations (NMOs) regarding their experiences in hemophilia care.
1. Advocacy programs aimed at securing adequately supply of safe therapeutic products for treatment and management of hemophilia from Government and private institutions
2. Advocacy programs towards the establishment of hemophilia treatment centers and access to healthcare providers through Government and private initiatives.
3. Programs involving close coordination with the medical, hospital and multi-discipline groups with interest in Hemophilia care.
We believe that the above programs will allow us to accomplish our goals and objectives. Many of these are already ongoing programs. There are however a lot of improvements that can be done. Many of these programs are still to be developed and implemented. Haplos needs medical, financial and logistical support!
